KILKENNY PUB CRAWL

KILKENNY PUB CRAWL

Kilkenny is a beautiful town in the southeast of Ireland. It is the county town of County Kilkenny and is renowned for its many medieval buildings.

In addition to its historic architecture, Kilkenny is also famous for its beer breweries. One of the most notable is the St. Francis Abbey Brewery, which was founded in the 18th century by Cole and Smithwick. The well-known beers brewed here include Smithwick's and Kilkenny. The Kilkenny brand was originally developed for the export market, as "Smithwick's" was considered too difficult to pronounce abroad. Today, the brewery primarily produces the American beer Budweiser.

One of the great things about Kilkenny is that it has a lot of excellent pubs where you can enjoy one of the beers that we have discussed above. In this pub crawl, we will take you on a tour of the best pubs the town has to offer.

We hope that you enjoy the pub crawl and let us know what you think via our social media channels.

THE PUBS

The Field Bar & Restaurant

This pub pays homage to Kilkenny's local GAA team with a large painting displayed above the entrance. Inside, the pub has a lively atmosphere, with many decorations adorning the walls. One particularly special item is a signed shirt from the legendary footballer Pelé.

Left Bank

The Left Bank has a more classy interior, featuring a beautiful bar rich in detail, with an incredible array of whiskies stacked to the ceiling behind it. Numerous chandeliers hang from the ceiling, giving the pub a unique atmosphere.

Syd Harkin's Pub

Syd Harkin’s is a traditional and cosy Irish pub, well known for its live events featuring traditional Irish music. Hurling is much loved by both the regulars and the owners, as reflected in the many photographs on the walls celebrating the glorious past of the local hurling team.

The Front Room

The Front Room is a very popular pub. It is hard to miss, thanks to the brightly coloured, large Guinness logo on its exterior. In addition to this iconic brand, the pub also serves a variety of other beers on draught. For those looking for a place to stay the night, the pub also offers accommodation.

Matt the Millers

Matt the Millers is one of the most famous pubs in Kilkenny. It is located on the riverbank and housed in an iconic red building with a black roof. The pub’s name is prominently displayed on the side of the building. Inside, you will find a wooden bar where you can enjoy a drink to round off the night.
