COBH PUB CRAWL

COBH PUB CRAWL

Cobh is a small town near the city of Cork, but it has a rich history and beautiful architecture. For many Irish people, Cobh was the last place they visited in their home country before embarking on a voyage to America or Australia during the Great Famine. Sadly, many did not reach the final destination of their journey. The town is still often visited by Americans and Australians who want to see where their ancestors boarded ships to sail to these distant lands. Cobh holds another significant place in history, as it was the final stop of the Titanic before it tragically sank on April 15, 1912. Besides its history, the town, formerly known as Queenstown, is renowned for its picturesque setting and architecture. The image that stands out when you search for Cobh on Google is the row of brightly coloured houses on a steep hill, with the large cathedral in the background. Cobh is so beautiful that when you search for Cork on Google, you will often find pictures of Cobh instead of the city of Cork. The town’s fascinating history and stunning architecture are what make Cobh special. Now, it’s time to explore the amazing pubs that this great town also offers.

We hope that you enjoy the pub crawl and let us know what you think via our social media channels.

THE PUBS

The Rob Roy

As mentioned in the introduction of the pub crawl, Cobh was the last part of their home country that many Irish people saw before embarking on voyages to other parts of the world. One of those destinations was Australia, and this pub pays homage to the Irish men and women who journeyed down under by showcasing numerous Australian flags.

The Mauretania

The theme of this pub is exactly what you might expect in a town like this. Even though the pub is not named after the most famous ship to visit the town, it still bears the name of a mighty vessel. The Mauretania was a cruise ship that was in service from 1906 to 1934. At that time, it was the world’s largest ship, though that title would soon go to the RMS Olympic, built in 1910. But that’s enough history for now. It is time to sit down in this cosy pub and order yourself a pint.

Ryan’s Pub Cobh

Ryan’s Pub is a quieter place where you go to have a great conversation with your mates and enjoy some drinks. It is a traditional-style pub, filled with decorations that evoke times long past. The theme revolves around the harbour and the great vessels that once rested along the shores of the charming town of Cobh.

Kelly’s bar

Kelly’s Bar is one of the best pubs in Cobh and a great place to end the pub crawl. The pub often hosts live music and keeps the party going late into the night. If you are not a big fan of loud parties, you can sit in the back of the pub or on the second floor to enjoy a drink. We recommend spending most of your time in the front of the pub, as the atmosphere there is electric.
