12 PUBS OF CHRISTMAS DUBLIN PUB CRAWL

12 PUBS OF CHRISTMAS DUBLIN PUB CRAWL

With Christmas just around the corner, we at Pubcrawlroute.com wanted to create something special for the best time of the year. And what better way to do this than by organizing ‘The 12 Pubs of Christmas pub crawl’? ‘The 12 Pubs of Christmas’ is an old Irish tradition, so where better to do the pub crawl than in Dublin?

The pub crawl is quite a challenge and not for the faint-hearted. The rules are simple. You have to finish a drink in every pub, and each pub has its own specific rule. The rules will be explained further below in the section dedicated to each pub. Breaking a rule means taking a shot. Yes, this is truly an event for enthusiastic drinkers.

We know that this tradition is often undertaken by larger groups, which can sometimes get a bit rowdy. That is why we have carefully selected pubs that are more accustomed to this kind of clientele.

We hope that you enjoy the pub crawl and have a wonderful Christmas! Let us know what you think via our social media channels.

THE PUBS

Doyle’s

The first pub you will visit is Doyle’s. Doyle’s is a spacious Irish pub with enough seating area, and the rule here is that you cannot use your phone while you are in this pub. So sit down and have a conversation with each other and enjoy the moment.

Bowe’s Lounge Bar

In our eyes, Bowe’s Bar is one of the most beautiful pubs in Dublin. When you enter the pub with your mates, it gives you a feeling of camaraderie, which is why the rule in this pub is to buy a drink for your buddy.

Fitzgerald’s Bar

Fitzgerald’s Bar might seem like the traditional Irish pub you are used to, but it will offer you some new insights because the rule here is to try a drink you have never had before.

The Palace Bar

The Irish poet and novelist Patrick Kavanagh once described the Palace Bar as the 'most wonderful temple of art,' and we can see why. The rule here is to drink with your left hand, or your right hand if you’re left-handed, while taking in the beautiful surroundings inside the pub.

Oliver St. John Gogarty's

Gogarty’s cannot be missed due to the bright colours on the exterior walls and the abundance of flags that adorn the outside. In this pub, you should also pay attention to your companions, so the rule here is that you feed someone their pint or drink of choice.

The Auld Dubliner

This beautifully decorated pub will leave you speechless, and that is exactly what you need to do here, because the rule is that you and your companions must remain completely silent during your visit here.

Sadly Google does not allow us to have 12 stops, maybe there is a reason for this, but by clicking the following button you can view the second part of the pub crawl.

The Quays

After staying silent in the last pub, it is now time to become more social. The rule here is to talk to a stranger. Perhaps ask them what brought them to the quays.

The Stag’s Head

The Stag’s Head has often won the Pub of the Year award in Ireland, and this is also due to the excellent quality of food they offer. After all those drinks, you might have built up an appetite, and that is why this pub counts as a food pit stop. So, the rule is to have something to eat.

Bad Bobs Temple Bar

This pub consists of four different areas, so there is plenty of room to complete the next task. In this pub, the rule is that you can only drink while standing on one leg. This might seem easy, but at this stage of the pub crawl, we expect it to be more of a challenge.

Paddy Macs

In this pub, you must keep an eye on the time, because the rule here is that you can only stay for five minutes. So, stop wasting time and down your drink.

The Norsemen

This pub is named after the Vikings who plundered Ireland and the surrounding countries in the past. The Norsemen were known for doing things differently, and now it is your turn to do something different. You must drink a pint of beer or Guinness through a straw.

Temple Bar Pub

The most famous, or infamous, pub in Ireland is the Temple Bar pub. Even though it has quite a controversial reputation, for this kind of pub crawl, we believe it is the best way to end the crawl. Since you have completed all 12 pubs, there is no rule here. Just enjoy your drink, if you still can.
