RYDE PUB CRAWL

RYDE PUB CRAWL

Ryde is a beautiful coastal town located on the north-east coast of the Isle of Wight. Although small, it is perfect for a weekend away, as there are plenty of things to see both on the Isle of Wight and in Ryde itself. In addition to the impressive church and the historic Ryde Castle, the town boasts a wide range of charming pubs to visit. When on holiday, you can even stay within the walls of Ryde Castle itself.

Ryde is also an ideal destination for the summer holidays, thanks to its long stretches of sandy beach. However, we will focus here on what is arguably the town’s greatest attraction: its pubs.

We hope that you enjoy the pub crawl and let us know what you think via our social media channels.

THE PUBS

Simeon Arms

The pub looks like an ordinary house in a row of similar houses, but there is something unusual about it. To begin with, it has a brighter yellow colour than the others on the street, and, even better, everyone is welcome to visit and you can even buy a variety of beers and spirits.

The Solent Inn

The Solent Inn is a great pub for beer lovers, with numerous barrels stacked up, all ready to be served from. The exterior of the pub is quite spectacular, featuring a large banner with its name and a rowboat above the main entrance, symbolising Ryde’s close connection with the sea.

The Veteran Hotel

This pub has a striking exterior, a common theme in Ryde. Painted bright blue, its name is clearly visible from the outside. Inside, it becomes clear why the pub is called The Veteran. The décor is filled with memorabilia from past wars, particularly the World Wars, including a large depiction of a poppy on the front of the bar. Its most eye-catching feature is a full-sized machine gun. Here, the battles are long past, and the only thing you will be fighting with is the choice of which pint to enjoy.

The King of Lud

The King of Lud is a proper British pub through and through, from the patterned carpet to the old-style ale taps. All in all, it’s a great traditional boozer for enjoying a proper pint.

The Star Coffee & Ale House

The Star Coffee & Ale House is a small, cosy pub with quirky lighting that gives it a unique vibe. After a long crawl, it is the ideal spot to wind down and think back on everywhere you have been.
